Natural Gas Overview |
|
| |
 Why
Natural Gas?
Natural gas is a vital component
of the world’s supply of energy because of its economic
and ecological advantages. When used to generate electricity
in modern Combine Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT) efficiency of
50% - 55% can be achieved compared to 35% - 40% commercial
fuel oil steam plant. This translate to cost saving to the
consumers of electricity in the industrial, commercial and
residential sectors. Natural gas is also one of the cleanest
and safest energy sources. Unlike other fossil fuels, burning
of natural gas emits almost no sulphur into the atmosphere
and it is also a safe source of energy when transported, stored
and used.
Distinctive advantages:
- Natural gas is the cleanest and non-polluting burning
fossil fuel, producing mainly water vapour and lower CO2
- Natural gas is a highly efficient and safe fuel, fastest
growing fossil fuel in world’s consumption since the
seventies. Natural gas is forecasted to eclipse crude oil
as the dominant form of energy by 2025.
